OZIL CLEARS PATH FOR ARSENAL

ABOVE: Mesut Ozil has cleared the path for Arsenal to launch a £15m summer swoop
5th March 2010

By Sami Mokbel

GERMANY playmaker Mesut Ozil has cleared the path for Arsenal to launch a £15m summer swoop.

Ozil, 21, has rejected the offer of a new deal at Werder Bremen and will not discuss an extension until the end of the season.

He will then have just a year to run on his contract and Bremen could be forced to sell.

That has put Arsene Wenger on red alert – but he will have to battle it out with Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona for the talented youngster.

Starsport exclusively revealed the Gunners’ interest in Ozil – who has eight international caps – in November.
