KING Lee (7.58) can rule on his reappearance at Romford tonight – live in betting shops.
Cruelly denied a place in the semi-finals of the Puppy Cup over C&D when going down with a sickness bug after posting the quickest time of the heats, Liz McNair’s pup is back in rude health if his comeback trials are any sort of guide.
He clocked 24.07 when winning his first round heat of the Puppy Cup and in a trial clocked one hundredth of a second slower.
Those brace of clockings put him a few lengths ahead of the opposition in the second heat of the Coral On TV Puppy Stakes and, while trap five isn’t ideal for a confirmed middle runner, the talented youngster should make light work of it.
BarBados sam (8.31) has come a long way in a short space of time having been plying his trade in low-grade affairs at Coventry to appearing on the open-race stage.
Matt Dartnall’s pup lost all chance when last over C&D after stumbling on leaving the traps, but a week prior to that he was an all-the-way winner and it is hoped he can find another slick getaway.
Rio Venturo (7.27) was in the wars on his Doncaster debut but a subsequent sub-24-second workout over tonight’s C&D is more of a pointer to his ability and he is the one to beat in the opener.
Nottingham hosts the other open racing with the feature, three heats of the Betfred Maiden Standard.
Hopefully the sponsors will be more accommodating than the maximum £3.30 they would lay me on- line about 30-100 shots the New York Giants for last night’s NFL game and, if so, inshaarla (9.07) could be worth a few bob.
Chris Allsopp’s bitch was expected to make waves in the Puppy Oaks but sunk without trace. She can open her account in heat two. Monleek mayhem 8.19) will appreciate a drop in class.
