ANGELA GRIFFIN TAKES ON ITV'S LOOSE WOMEN
CHAT show host Angela Griffin is taking on ITV’s Loose Women in a battle for daytime ratings with a secret weapon...MEN.
The gorgeous mum-of-two has just finished her second week of Angela And Friends on Sky1.
And unlike Loose Women, her show is not about bashing blokes – but embracing them.
She said: “I think it’s really important to get the man’s perspective on things.
“We certainly don’t bash men on our show. Loose Women can do that but it’s just not what we’re about.
“I might have the odd moan about my husband if he does something to annoy me but that’s about it.
“Having a man on the show definitely gives us a bit of an edge.
“You get a different bloke on our show each day – which I think is really good.
“It means that you’re not only getting the bloke perspective but different blokes giving their opinions on a daily basis.
“It’s really interesting seeing where they come from on certain issues.
“It’s not just women who watch daytime television.
“My husband is at home with the girls while I go out to work.
“I’ve even had him on the show, speaking to us via the webcam at home.
“So I’m sure there are loads of other blokes at home during the day.
“We’re really trying to change people’s attitudes toward daytime TV.
“I’m really enjoying myself.”
The former Coronation Street and Waterloo Road star knows it’s going to take a while before she gets a loyal following for her show.
But she’s determined to make it a success.
Angela, 33, said: “Sky have really committed to the show. They’ve commissioned 90 shows – we’ve done five, so only 85 more to go!
“Daytime audiences are very loyal – which is great if you have their following.
“We’re playing the long game. You’ve really got to build and work hard.
“Sky1 have been so brave committing to the show. And that commitment is very nice.
“If we get to show 90 and they say it’s not worked, I’d be gutted...but I’d have had an absolute ball.”
Angela’s still keen to act but is hopeful of a long career in chat.
She said: “Acting has always been my first love but it’s great to have been given an opportunity like this.
“The show will run until next March, so fingers crossed we get the viewers and they re-commission more shows. It would be amazing if that happened.”
Angela And Friends is on weekdays at 2pm on Sky1.
