BOLTON MANAGER GARY MEGSON LIVING IN SAM ALLARDYCE SHADOW

By Sam Christie

BOLTON manager Gary Megson is convinced he’s still living in the shadow of Sam Allardyce.

Megson has struggled to win over home supporters since succeeding Sammy Lee at the Reebok in 2007 – despite keeping the club in the Premier League.

But the Trotters enjoyed amazing success under Allardyce, who led them into Europe and also secured the club’s highest finish in the top flight.

Fans have been gutted since his acrimonious departure and Megson believes he will always be compared to the man he faces in the opposite dugout tomorrow.

He said: “Is Sam’s shadow still around the place?

“Yeah, it is. Once a manager has worked at a place for a decent amount of time, then that’s bound to be the case.

“I don’t think it’s a case of being judged – that’s for other people to decide.

“If we’re following Sam here then Blackburn, by the same virtue, will be following Kenny Dalglish.

“You just try to do your best with what you’ve got.”
