By Laura Neil

TV PRESENTER Gabby Logan broke down in tears after discovering one of her family died in a workhouse aged just 20 months.

BBC sports host Gabby was researching her family tree when she found out that her relatives were pennniless and starving.

Toddler Blanche Yorath was the daughter of her great-great grandmother.

The tot’s widowed mother Clara could not afford to keep her at home.

Gabby, 36, who is married to former Scotland rugby international Kenny Logan, 37, said yesterday: “It was heartbreaking and distressing for me and emotionally draining to realise what had happened to my family.”

Little Blanche died in the Union workhouse in Cardiff in 1906, with the cause of death given as diarrhoea and vomiting.

She would have grown up to become Gabby’s great aunt.

Gabby’s heartbreak at finding out about her family will be featured in the BBC Wales series Coming Home, on Monday night.
